Paying your moving costs

Most moving companies will require you to pay for the cost of your move in-full, on the day of delivery, unless you've made prior payment arrangements with them. Accepted forms of payments vary from company to company, but most accept cash, money orders, traveler's checks and cashier's checks, while some will take credit cards. On the day of delivery the moving company is only allowed to collect an additional ten percent above the estimated costs. If the total costs come to more than an additional ten percent, they are required to give you 15 days to pay the balance. Remember, the estimate is not a guaranteed price and the cost of a move is sometimes higher than what was estimated. For this reason, leave some flexibility in your budget. If you're unable to pay on the day of delivery and you haven't made arrangements with the moving company, your belongings will be stored at your expense until you can pay the bill. For more information about paying your moving costs, contact a moving company in your area.
