PASCAGOULA, Miss. - A Jackson County jury has convicted a 15-year-old of capital murder in the 2008 shooting death of a Hattiesburg man.
The defendant was 14 at the time when the crime occurred.
Michael David Porter was shot outside a Moss Point gas station after stopping to ask for directions to his grandson's football game.
Defense lawyer Dustin Thomas told jurors Friday that a key prosecution witness testified he didn't see the teen shoot Porter.
But District Attorney Tony Lawrence argued the teen was involved in the robbery with two others when Porter was shot.
The teen will serve life without parole. He was too young to be considered for the death penalty.
