The body found in the truck of a burned vehicle has been identified after a weekend autopsy.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart has identified the body as 30-year old Jonathon Moore of Jackson.  Moore's body was discovered Friday after fire officials received a call about an abandoned vehicle fire on Highway 49 and Cynthia Road.

Grisham Stewart says the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head before the fire.  Officials say Moore had burns on over 95% of his body.  Jackson police are now investigating the case as a homicide.

Jackson police are searching for clues after a body was found in the truck of a burned vehicle Friday evening.

Officials say they received a call about an abandoned vehicle on fire on the side of the road near Highway 49 and Cynthia Road.  After putting out the fire, investigators say they found the body of a black male inside the truck of the car.  The county coroner was called to the scene and an autopsy has been scheduled.  Investigators could not identify the make or model of the vehicle.  Officials say they are investigating the case as a death investigation until the cause of death is determined.
