The Canton Animal Control officer accused of shooting dogs and dumping them into a creek has been charged.
District Attorney Michael Guest says the Canton Police Department filed the charges monday in justice court against Alonzo Esco.
A Madison County grand jury ruled that Esco's charges were misdemeanor charges and not felony charges.
Guest says Esco will have a probable cause hearing since he was a law enforcement officer at the time of the alleged incident.
Esco was fired back in January.
