The Rankin County School District ends its investigation after children complained a teacher used an inappropriate word during a lesson on black history.

Parents whose children attend Northwest Rankin Middle School say a teacher used a derogatory term when explaining Black History Month to the class.  Parents say the students were offended by the word and reported the incident when they got home.

FOX 40 News went to the district to get their reaction to the students' claims.  The district's spokeswoman Carol Jones said several parents have called to get information about the classroom discussion.  Jones said the district's investigation resulted in the use of no inappropriate language.  Click on the letter to read the district's response.
