FOX 40 News is learning more information Friday about the Rankin County elementary teacher facing allegations of inappropriate behavior.  

Rankin County Sheriff Ronnie Pennington tells FOX 40 News that it is a male teacher at McLaurin Elementary School that is being accused, but that the teacher is not facing any charges so far.  Pennington would not go into detail about what allegations were being brought against the man.  His name has still not been released.

Rankin County School District spokesperson Carol Jones told FOX 40 News in a released statement that the male teacher was immediately removed and another teacher was brought in to replace him.  Student have also been interviewed by counselors and school administrators about the alleged incidents.

The case has been turned over to the Rankin County Sheriff's Department for further investigation.  


 
A Rankin County elementary school teacher faces tough questions Thursday by Sheriff's officials in connection to allegations of inappropriate behavior. 

The allegations against the McLaurin Elementary School teacher have not been released, but Rankin County School District spokesperson Carol Jones says the teacher was immediately removed and students have been interviewed by a trained counselor.  School administrators and parents were also present during the interviews. 

Jones says the investigation has been turned over to the Rankin County Sheriff's Department, who were unavailable for comment Thursday.  The name of the teacher has not been released.
